Tuesday, August 3, 2010 Day 34
Our Paris stay is more than half over. Ack! We still have a lot to do – we had better get moving! That said, we took the day off! I wanted to recuperate and wash my hair and do some laundry. Roger went to the General Leclerc Museum – he who was commander of the French armored division which entered Paris first during the liberation of the city from the Germans in August 1944, and who is given credit (by some!) for liberating Paris. He was promoted to Marshall posthumously. Hm…
I cleaned the kitchen, blogged and fixed leeks in Mornay sauce (thank you, Julie) while Roger was gone, then he came home and fixed pork bites and we had the leftover rice and wine for supper.
You will recall our purchase of a pitcher and four glasses last month. Alas, the pitcher has a crack in it. I think it was because of the thickness of the glass – at the bottom particularly it is quite chunky. I suspect that when we poured steeped tea from the teapot into it, the temperature change was too great, and because of the depth of the glass, there was no room for the sudden expansion, even though there was ice in the pitcher. Indeed, perhaps that was the problem. Sigh.
