We woke up to a Saints win this morning. Allelulia! Roger continues to suffer from his cold and is rather miserable. We walked the Peyrou, then went in search of an open store. However, it is All Saints (Toussaint) Day, and more shops are closed than on Sunday.
We went to the small Carrefour and bought a few groceries, including a Pomelo. I had never had one before, but it is a fruit of Chinese origin. A pomelo is the largest of the citrus fruits. It has a thick skin, which peels down to pulp which tastes similar to grapefruit, except a bit milder. This one was VERY dry. I suspect that a juicy one might be very good, but this one was only okay.
Roger did not play chess today. It was cool and damp still, and he didn’t think his throat would take kindly to sitting outside on stone benches playing chess or standing around watching others play chess and kibitzing with other spectators. He wasn’t even sure that there would be any players in the esplanade because of the holiday.
