We were walking along Rue St. Guilem near our apartment today and saw a set of mannequins on the sidewalk in front of a store, decked out in the shop’s latest fashions. There was a family of three, with the smallest dressed in boy’s clothing. A young girl, probably age 4 or 5 years, approached him and hugged him, greeting him with a kiss on each cheek in the French style. Her hands were all over him! Roger and I discussed the various reasons that a mannequin makes an ideal boyfriend - he never argues back, never gets his face dirty, is always well dressed, is the strong, silent type, never objects to how much time you take to shop, never hogs the shower or steals your fries from your plate. and he stays where you leave him!
