It is hard to believe that this is the middle of August - it barely got up to 70° today. It rained most of the day. I hung Roger’s blue jeans out to dry this morning. I missed the onset of the rain and they are now wetter than they were when I hung them out.

Today we recuperated from our Normandy adventure. I did laundry and washed my hair while Roger napped a lot! Around 5:00 we declared it time for a walk and went out and around the neighborhood. We discovered a fish market of which we were previously unaware. Actually, we should have known about it – it is just beyond a faux lighthouse which sits alongside a number of train tracks leading to Gare Montparnasse. We had seen the lighthouse several times, and indeed took a picture of it on an earlier date, but the picture did not turn out well – it was too late in the evening and thus too dark. The sign on the lighthouse informs viewer of the “Halle aux huitres” (oyster market). In France, halles are markets, usually farmers markets. This time, instead of turning left away from the lighthouse, we continued on past the lighthouse and discovered the Seafood Halle, which bills itself as the first (although in this case, premiere may mean finest) European supermarket of fresh fish. We may visit there at least once before we leave, although we have been accustomed to buying our fish at the local street markets.

Here’s a shout-out to Nancy, who, while not actually a “follower,” is lurking in the shadows. Welcome aboard, Nancy. I’m glad you are enjoying the blog.
