Tuesday December 7, 2010 Day 160
We went to Les Arceaux market this morning, looking mostly for some fresh fruit for our trip and some ingredients for one last pot of butternut squash soup before we head out to places unknown. I already have the squash and carrots in the refrigerator, and just need a potato, a Granny Smith apple and a couple of leeks. We also bought pecans, and Roger got some raisins and nuts for our upcoming trip.
On the way back from the market, we came upon a dog tied to a post, waiting for its owner to finish his coffee in the local coffee shop. He checked out everyone who came by, but we were far enough away that he didn’t bother us.
We also saw an interesting sign stuck onto a Do Not Enter sign. Not sure exactly to whom that is directed - “maintenant” means "now," and the rest of it translates almost exactly as it looks. Is this in conjunction with the strikes here in France?
In the afternoon, Roger left for chess and I made more butternut squash soup. As is his custom, Roger stopped off at the bakery and picked up a baguette and we had a lovely dinner of soup and bread. I could live on soup!
